Anuradha, I am looking forward to seeing your piece in Malmo. Your focus on the machine as misrepresenting data, and therefore looking at algorithmic processes that support such misrepresentations, is of course very interesting, but i especially enjoyed its humour. It reminded me of the essay by Parisi and Fazi, Do Algorithms have Fun. Are you familiar with it?

There is another article by Hito Steyerl "See of Data: Aphophenia and Patent (Mis-)recognition" which was published recently in e-flux magazine http://www.e-flux.com/journal/a-sea-of-data-apophenia-and-pattern-mis-recognition/ and which you might find relevant to your work. In particular in relation to'dirty' data and resulting from that its misinterpretations. You make some points in your piece, which Steyerl articulates very well. Perhaps looking at the way she develops her argument (also structurally) might be useful in contextualising your work and research a little more. What is intriguing in your piece in particular is the fact that you are exploring these issues in practice by designing prototypes and programming algorithms and bots which further exploit these weaknesses which are then to be revealed to users (if i understand correctly). I think the focus on algorithm and its errors and failures is important and to feed that back to the user even more so. Is this where you want to take this piece? I would imagine there is a fantastic potential in moving from contemplation to experience of these mis-executions.
